Thanks for the incredibly detailed reporting. I had no idea. But I also was shocked today to read news of violence in Northern Ireland against immigrants. This is not the peaceful, welcoming country I thought it had become. I hope things change quickly, and that support of Ukraine will prevail. There must be a way to save jobs and still do the right thing.
A complex issue with no easy answer. I support the workers & despise the oligarchs. I hope Ireland figures out a good answer, as well as all the other instances of hopefully innocent feeding of the Russian war machine. I know America is probably aiding them, since Trump & our oligarchs only want as much money as they can grab. There will be a reckoning.

Mostly, it's late to the party -- sometimes embarrassingly late. I hope Ireland figures out that the price to maintain this 1,000 jobs in Limerick (or whatever the real number is) isn't worth the moral cost. There may be other sources -- let the Russians pay to get it from North Korea or god knows where else. Ukraine must not be defeated by the would-be conqueror.
😩 I feel this in my bones. This is an international problem. All of us are suffering at the hands of concentrated wealth (a/k/a oligarchs). Ordinary people suffer and often unwittingly contribute to their own suffering and demise, as well as others’. We need to take every action, no matter how small, to restore our own dignity and lessen the harm caused by what we can control.
This question has come up, again and again, throughout history: Officially neutral Great Britain, France and Spain traded with the Confederate States of America, as did industrialists in the Northern states themselves; The successors of those same industrialists traded with Germany during World War II; then again. they also traded with Stalin's USSR. "Green is neutral" is a well-known dodge.
