The reason for the cancelation? It was too hot to safely hold the meeting.
I'm sorry to hear what you're enduring. I've been hearing the reports of how extreme the heat has been in Europe. Sure kicks in the reality that climate change is very real despite the hoax calls over here. You have to wonder if we will wakeup before it's too late in the States? I've been wondering if my family who lives 1100 miles south, might consider / forced to move up north to save themselves?

I guess the forecast for Wroclaw is supposed to be 42C for tomorrow (about 108F). The unfortunate part (or perhaps I should be viewing this as fortunate) is that not all areas of the planet are feeling the heat at the same rate. The Pacific Northwest today is about 20C (60ish F). But the temps are to go up this week. And as you've noted, the Trump administration and its supporters continue to back policies that will accelerate climate change (while denying it), and place priorities on industry and the collectivization of wealth (re: Bezos' comments on how water for cooling data centers is somehow more important than water for humans). I want to say that there is still the chance to do something about it, but we're cutting it really close to the wire here... Get well soon. Your writing is needed.
Live in the Pacific Northwest, it has been very comfortable for about a week. But as you say it will get hotter. It has to get above 110 Fahrenheit before I am uncomfortable in my house. Bezos is a very greedy idiot.
I hope you feel better soon, Peter. Yes, never fear, the monitors are on the job! Here in the Dallas area, it is 36 degrees. It will hit 37.8 by July 4, or maybe sooner. It will stay that way until Labour Day, the 7th day in September. There is likely to be little or no rain during that time. People who have come here from India and the Arabian Peninsula feel right at home-and they are not thrilled about it. We are among the lucky, having tended to our AC unit's compressor back in March. It will last the summer.

I am glad you feel better, except for the heat of course. I am thinking either better built houses with plenty of insulation & heat pumps, or starting to build underground. Perhaps both. I have eight cats all vaccinated, fixed & chipped. They are happy, especially today, as it was wet food day. You are a super writer, your prose is vibrant & full of information. Write when you can. My first rule is take care of yourself but not at anyone else's expense. Second help others. Third adapt. So take care of yourself. You are already helping all your readers.
